A bit about find memory care:
Find Memory Care is an organisation established over 20 years ago, dedicated to improving the lives of people living with dementia through thoughtful, practical design. Our journey began with creating the world’s first dementia-specific signage, designed to help individuals navigate their surroundings with ease, reduce anxiety, and promote independence. Since then, we’ve expanded our range to include a variety of thoughtfully designed products, all aimed at enhancing the daily lives of those with dementia. Our work is backed by extensive research, and we’ve collaborated closely with leading universities and experts in the field.
We’re proud to be a strategic partner of the Alzheimer’s Society UK, a recognition of the impact and quality of our work. This partnership not only supports our mission but also reinforces the value our products bring to dementia care.
My story and why I got involved:
After working in care for five years, I saw first hand how small changes, like clearer signage or vibrant crockery, could make a real difference in someone’s confidence and independence.
When I moved to Leeds to study my masters in advertising, I discovered Find Memory Care and immediately felt passionate about advocating for these products and raising awareness of how they can support people to live well at home and in care settings. Whilst completing my studies, I worked part-time at Find Memory Care, building awareness of various dementias and memory tools to support, aiming to reduce stigma.
My picture:

Using Colour to Support Independence
Visual contrast is significant for people living with dementia. As perception and depth awareness can change, identifying objects that blend into their surroundings can become difficult.
That’s why vibrant red or blue toilet seats, rails, and bathroom aids can be so beneficial. These intense colours stand out clearly against pale walls or flooring, helping individuals find and use them more easily.
It’s a small adjustment that can significantly increase independence and reduce anxiety.
Making Mealtimes Easier with Dementia-Friendly Crockery
Eating well is vital to maintaining health and wellbeing, but for someone living with dementia, poor colour contrast or unfamiliar crockery can make meals confusing or unappealing.
Brightly coloured, high-contrast plates and bowls help food stand out clearly, encouraging better appetite and independence. Research has shown that vibrant blue plates can increase appetite by up to 30%.
Many designs also feature deeper rims and non-slip bases, making it easier to scoop food without spills.
These small details can help turn mealtimes into positive, confident moments again.
Safe and Dignified Glassware
Maintaining dignity is key to quality of life. Durable, shatter-resistant glassware, such as Titan wine and beer glasses, allows people to enjoy social moments safely without compromising on style.
They look and feel like traditional glass, offering reassurance and a sense of normality during shared occasions or quiet moments at home.
Supporting Orientation with Clear Signage
As memory changes, recognising and locating rooms or items can become challenging. Self-adhesive signs with clear words and pictures, such as toilet, bedroom, cups, plates, or pots and pans, can help with navigation and reduce confusion.
Placing these signs on doors, cupboards, or drawers supports independence and reduces reliance on carers for simple daily tasks. They also help create a calmer environment by bringing back a sense of familiarity.

Each of these adjustments is about more than convenience, they’re about confidence, comfort, and maintaining a sense of control.
With the right tools, people living with dementia can continue to engage in everyday routines with dignity and ease.
You can find a wide range of these dementia-friendly products, from colourful bathroom aids to clear signage and crockery at Find Memory Care.
